AUSSIE SUPPORTEROOS

Football Friendlies for Matildas and Socceroos Supporters

Who are Aussie Supporteroos?

We are an informal community of football-playing supporters of Australia's national teams, Matildas and Socceroos. We come from all over Australia and the world and we get together to play fan friendlies against supporters of national football teams from other countries.

Aussie Supporteroos were founded during the 2018 World Cup in Russia where our team played 11 friendlies in 5 cities against fans from 10 countries: France, Denmark, Peru, Algeria, Cyprus, Nigeria, China,
Columbia, Spain and Russia.

We welcome players of all ages, genders and abilities. During our 2018 World Cup tour in Russia dozens of players joined Aussie Supporteroos, with the youngest being only 12 and the oldest 64
years old. We were also the only team at the Fan World Cup in St. Petersburg to feature a female player.

In 2019 we significantly expanded our membership. During the Women's World Cup in France, many female players became Aussie Supporteroos and in the match against The American Outlaws fan group in Lyon, 23 out of 27 players were female. We organised 7 friendlies in France, including matches in Valenciennes against the local football ultras group, in Grenoble against a team of nuclear scientists and in Lyon against a local police team.

We are looking forward to organising fan friendlies in Australia during the first World Cup on home soil!

Being part of the Aussie Supporteroos during Russia 2018 was by far one of my most memorable life experiences and most enjoyable travel adventure I have ever had.  By changing up the tourist trail and playing football with, and against fans from all over the world, I have made some amazing friends for life.  We all learnt that there is so much more to football than winning and the connections made and 'money cant buy' experiences that we gained I will treasure for many more years to come.  I cant wait for the next opportunity for another Supporteroo Cap!

I highly recommend doing the tournament especially for females as tearing it up and shocking the men was definitely a highlight. But all up it was a great day out playing the world game and of course us Aussies just make it.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia was one of highlights of my life thus far. As the only non-Aussie in my travelling group, I wore the green and gold with pride - as I watched the Socceroos with my mates and represented Australia in Fan Friendlies in different hosting cities. The unforgettable experience is something I hope is emulated at the WWC France 2019
